Early findings from interviews with 9 Australian councils on nature-based solutions

ICLEI and Swinburne University have now conducted interviews with the first group of 9 CitiesWithNature Pioneer councils. The interviews are designed to learn about council priorities for nature-based solutions and to develop the best way for the research community and ICLEI to support their work. More interviews will be conducted in the coming months and at least one focus group webinar will be held to discuss the findings with interviewees.

IUCN unveils world’s first Global Standard for Nature-based Solutions

On 23 July 2020, the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) unveiled a new Global Standard for Nature-based Solutions (NbS). The Global Standard is the first-ever set of benchmarks for NbS and will be applied in practice by local and regional governments through the international CitiesWithNature program.

CitiesWithNature Updates - Limited Places Join Pioneer Group of Australian councils

Australian councils are invited to apply for limited places to be in a Pioneer Group to work with ICLEI to tailor a high-value support program for urban greening and biodiversity. The first steps are for pioneers to register on the global CitiesWithNature website and then participate in a needs assessment research project conducted in partnership with Swinburne University.

ICLEI Oceania is now launching the Australian chapter of the Cities With Nature (CWN) program and we are extending invitations to councils to become one of our “Pioneer Cities” and take part in a needs-assessment research. Cities With Nature is a shared global platform that encourages cities to incorporate nature-based solutions in their urban development and planning.
