New ICLEI Member: Blacktown City Council

 

ICLEI Oceania would like to welcome Blacktown City Council, as a new member of the ICLEI network. Blacktown is a vibrant city located in the heart of Greater Sydney, halfway between Sydney City and the Blue Mountains, with a reputation for being on the forefront of sustainability and climate action.

As a member of ICLEI, Blacktown City Council is part of a global network of more than 1,750 local and regional governments committed to sustainable urban development. Active in 100+ countries, we influence sustainability policy and drive local action for low emission, nature-based, equitable, resilient and circular development. 

Blacktown City Council has recently installed almost 2,000 solar panels across 16 sites in what is believed to be Australia's largest rooftop solar power purchasing agreement. The City is also a signatory to the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy. Read more
