Reporting with the Click of a Button

Now there's a way to quickly report emissions data with the click of a button to fulfill the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy (GCoM) and Cities Race to Zero reporting requirements.

The Global Covenant of Mayors follows a planning and reporting framework called the Common Reporting Framework to ensure robust assessment and target setting which are aligned with the global standards. Every year members of the Global Covenant move through this process but there can be barriers to this reporting process which can be time and cost intensive. Additionally, and perhaps more importantly the complexity of transferring reporting information creates inconsistencies in data which can adversely impact policy decision making and local government's ability to effectively combat the impacts of climate change.

According to Alexi Lynch of Ironbark Sustainability, this complexity in reporting motivates many councils to seek out costly consultants in order to navigate this depth of information.

Now through a collaboration between CDP, ICLEI, and Ironbark Sustainability the CDP-ICLEI Track provides a refined process for local governments to report their climate actions. This new process dramatically reduces the time that it typically takes for cities to report. It also provides a quick and simple process to upload documents directly which helps address the issue of inaccurate reporting. By contributing accurate data to this reporting system local governments strengthen policy decision making to combat the impacts of climate change.
